Credit cards are essential to businesses providing a guaranteed payment system to the participating merchants. Guaranteed payments shift the payment risk from the business to a bank or financial institution that can better monitor risk. This also enables smaller businesses to compete with larger businesses by giving them access to a larger pool of customers without regard to individual risk assessment.
The credit card industry is increasingly competitive in terms of credit card providers and credit card options available. With an average cost to acquire a customer from $100-200 and fraud losses to card issuers of $1 billion both fraud and customer identification are key components of data strategies.
The Card Services industry models are a set of Enterprise, Business Area, Data Mart and Data Warehouse logical data models supporting the integrated application, reporting and analytic requirements of companies operating in the credit and payment card industry.
