An enterprise-wide view of customer needs to incorporate two distinct and different types of customers:

1.  Individual Customers
2.  Legal Entity Customers

The Legal Entity Customer Business Area Model provides an integrated comprehensive data architecture that defines and characterizes legal entity customers such as corporations, companies and government organizations.

The majority of Legal Entity Customer data is provided by third-party providers such as Dun & Bradstreet for use by a wide number of subscribers for a variety of reasons.  The Legal Entity Customer model integrates this third-party data to provide an architecture that can be readily populated and reflects how business data is used.
